Have a large Grandfather clock with tubular chimes. Very old. Need any information on the markings on the movement. Small circle at bottom has "MAUTHE" in top of circle and Germany at the bottom of circle. May not be an E on top word, as it is worn and hard to see. Has German eagle symbol with circle, in middle of movement. Circle is divided into 3 sections. Top left section is F, the right section has an M, and can't tell if bottom area has letter or not. Over to left is PL98 And also Either PS or DS. 66 2/3. Any information on this old movement would be very helpful. Thanks

      Friedrich Mauthe Uhrenfabrik
      Schwenningen, Tyskland
      1870-1976 From 1899 on made
      it’s own cabinets. Bankrupt 1976

The 75453 appears to be a production serial number and there is no existing reference, that I'm aware of, that can give you a date of manufacture from Mauthe serial numbers.

The other numbers may have to do with pendulum length or leader, possibly beats per minute, I'm just guessing.

If you know German, there is a museum in Germany that could possibly provide you with more definitive information if no other information presents itself here or elsewhere.

      Museum und Archiv Mauthe

      Good luck.
