I found this little guy years ago at a local swap meet. He stands about 10 inches tall and has a fabric body stuffed with horse hair I think. His head and hands are ceramic and have clear signs of being made in a mold. I alway thought he had a Bauhaus look which was one of the reason i got him. I know nothing more about him and would love to hear what you think. Thanks in advance.

the clown looks like a doll in my book "poppen made in belgium" by paul herman.
it is an unica-clown, with head and hands in "pierre-ponce".

Thank you deityrita, I was really surprised to see a response so quickly. Was there any mention to age or manufacture. I tried to find the book you mentioned but was only able to find one copy for sale and it was oversees. Thank you again, I really appreciate it!

hello emanueljay, the belgian unica dollfactory made these clowns and other figures (cowboys, fireman, soldiers, other clowns) after the war ,between 1944 and 1950.
I have this information out of the book.
    greetings from belgium, deityrita.

    Thank you again Deityrita.
From your original post I thought unica was a style not a company. (not very smart of me).
I really didn't expect comments on the clown so you help was a great surprise! Thanks.
