Star Paper Fastener was made by the Jones Fastener Co. predecessor to Hotchkiss. Tail held 100 staples. Patent first held by Greenfield. First stapler to use strip staples. Strip staples were inserted into the paper by hitting the head very hard to cut each one from the strip. The staples came in steel and copper. Note last image was 3D art I created of the Star.

Very cool item! Welcome to show and tell... And thanks for sharing!!
Just picked up a number 1 from the Antique Weekend show they have in Warrenton/Roundtop here in Texas. Got it for $5. Thought that was a great pick. I try to specialize in office supplies and games (Croquet, badminton, petanque..)
Anyone know where to track down some staples at a reasonable price?
$5 is good price for a number 1. They made a lot of them but every good collection should have one. Any price for a number 1 $20 and under is a good price.
very cool ,I want one ...lol
oh this is just way too cool -- love the photo work -- great analogy shot
