While on a road trip through central Saskatchewan we went through a number of small towns, some only had a few inhabitants others possibly 200.
The reason was to see what was left of the towns where Manikins Canadian branch of her family once homesteaded & still live.

The first picture is what we call a "jigger", used by the railway section crews to do service work. These went out of fashion in the 80's.
#2 is what's left of the Curling rink.
    # 2 could have been a store or community centre.
    # 3 Ardath United Church, appeared to be ready for a Sunday Service.

Again so many thanks David and Sherry for taking time to take these photo's and meeting my family . The rodeo branch anyway . The rest of us are not quite so inclined to live like that . Amazing photo's . I was surprised the church was beautiful for 16 people and such a big nice school that is now closed .

Thanks Phil, coming from a pro like you I really appreciate the compliment, I wish I had taken the time get a better photo of the jigger without all the clutter in the background.
There's one aspect of doing something nice for someone & that is what you get from the transaction. This side trip took us on a different road than we usually travel, we found some very interesting things to see. We also met with Mani's cousin & he is just as nice as Mani.

Hadto comment again David.....just love the Fairbanks Morris motorcar, can't get enough of these...I have pieces and parts for a Gangcar...larger frame and flat tin roof, harder to remove from travks also.....4 cylinder drivetrain
    14. walksoftly walksoftly, 10 years ago
Thanks Kerry they are cool, was a gangcar just a larger version of the motorcar?
    15. kerry10456 kerry10456, 10 years ago
Yes, probably 30% larger and had two seats beside engine, and two bench seats behind, would haul 5-6 men and pull a dumpy behind with tools and such
    16. walksoftly walksoftly, 10 years ago
Are you going to restore/rebuild what you have?
    17. kerry10456 kerry10456, 10 years ago

love it.. we have jiggers clubs all over here and some days we'll see 20 or so on the line heading north ....
    20. walksoftly walksoftly, 10 years ago
      @ Windwalker, where is here?
    21. Windwalker, 10 years ago
Windwalker, where is here?......... were you are .. .lol just kidding ,,,,, in the northeast but southeast of the north pole, if the crows fly straight ......hope this helps ...they have a lot of clubs that meet at the old train stations which most are a place to eat now, but not all.....I would say I'm a hop and a skip from that crazy Roycroftbooksfromme guy..that blender picks on all the time ..smiling
    22. walksoftly walksoftly, 10 years ago
