Im guessing this is a old ship bell.It is very heavy and has holes in the wood where it was screwed down at one time.I could not find any markings on it.Does anyone know what kind of bell this is ?

Not a ship's bell. With the pulley, more like it was mounted well overhead like a church town hall bell.

Bells are pretty much a specialty & I'm surprised that such a well made 1 is unmarked. If unmarked, the only indication of age would be from the wood base if you think it is orig.. Bells have been made forever & still made. I just added what I thought was obvious to me.

I have a bell like this. The inside of the bell has a sticker that says Leonard Silver Mfg. Co.
