A POST BY SLAVE-TO-GLASS ASKING WHO MIGHT HAVE MADE AN ENAMELED IRIDESCENT BLUE VASE, REMINDED ME OF TWO OF MINE, WHICH I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY BY MAKER.
HOWEVER, I ALSO OWN TWO LOETZ VASES WITH STARTLINGLY SIMILAR ENAMELING.
PIC. 1 EXQUISITELY ENAMELED VASE, LIGHTWEIGHT IRIDESCENT BLUE GLASS, WITH LOTUS BLOOMS AND DRAGONFLY. 8", NO PONTIL. ALSO ENAMELED ON THE BACK.
PIC. 2 LOETZ ENAMEL COMPARISON. NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THESE TWO VASES WERE DECORATED BY THE SAME REFINERY.
PIC. 3 A SECOND MYSTERY VASE. HEAVY IRIDESCENT BLUE GLASS, ENAMELED IN THE PASTRY BAG TECHNIQUE ATTRIBUTED TO SUTTERLIN. 7.5", POLISHED PONTIL.

Al, something about the third piece says Schliersee to me. I couldn't find the exact shape in Sellner's book, but I saw similar... food for thought.
I don't have any vases with enameling this ornate. Although I should, I think. I will have to work on that. I have always loved that vase in pic. 4 Al.
I CAN LIVE WITH SCHLERSEE. NOTHING LIKE IT IN THE PM, THOUGH.
I don't think #3 is a Ludwig Sutterlin piece. While geometric and abstract in style, the background gold enamel dimpling is not something that he was known to do. I can't comment, however, on the possible glasshouse.
Actually, gold is the only decor I really like on glass;there is canvas if one wants to paint - not on glass.

I do not like gold on glass at all. Neither do I like overwhelming enameling (Moser comes to mind). These enamels, in my humble view, represent the AN aesthetics quite well. The first two, the floral. The second two, the beginning of abstraction.
