I acquired this years ago when we had a booth at antique mall . It is 4 ft tall almost as tall as me . It is totally hand carved and the front has a handle down the middle . The bottom is flat so not a walking stick and it is quite heavy . I guess it had to be made as a decorator piece just not sure why it has a hand grip . He sits in my front room like king of the castle among my collection of wood animal carvings . I have no idea of country of origin . I just like him :-) Maybe the hand grip is just his enormous perch ?

Hello Manikin...
Maybe there was another one at the other end, that slot looks like it may have been to put something in it, probably to low for a bed head, but that kind of thing!!!???
I have had three large parrots in my life, and African Grey a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo and a Pink & grey Cockatoo with different smaller ones over the years, the most comical was the African Grey regard it as one of the most intelligent birds in the world used to tease my Mother no end, he used to whistle my fathers favourite tune which got her worried on many occasion as he was supposed to be at work...:-)
Hi inky
oh your so lucky to have parrots I just love them but who would not love a African Gray ! My experience with a cockatoo was not good he did not like me and refused to talk just hiss . That is so funny your bird whistled your dads song :-) They are great at learning new words if heard enough . I was always afraid I would get one that was trained to swear and it would embarrass me :-) But my wood one just stands quiet in corner so I will settle for him . Thank for stopping inky and sharing your story . I am always glad to see you !!!!!!!!!!
Thank you scandi :-) xo
I love it!!!
Thank you toracat and nldionne :-)))
