At the tail end of the Westmoreland Glass Company's reign, their last owner, David Grossman, tried to entice collectors back by introducing new colors to some of the old Westmoreland moulds. One of these new colors included a beautiful carnival glass in rich blues and purples. There were even a few new shapes that were introduced (see the last alteration of the banana boat).

There were fewer than 200 pieces made in carnival glass for each mould. I own a dozen pieces, all in the Maple Leaf pattern, five of which are shown here.

Ultimately, the new colors and shapes did not attract new buyers and the company shut down within another four years.
