This is a 1950 magazine advertisement for Castleton China made by Castleton China, Inc., New York, NY. The ad shows the "Peony" pattern. This ad is 9 3/4" wide by 12 3/4" high. First Lady Mamie Eisenhower orderered 120 service plates for the White House Dinner Service from Castleton China which included a pure gold emblem which required the plates to be fired a total of eight times. The history of Castleton China began in 1901 with the Shenango and New Castle Pottery Companies in New Castle, Pennsylvania. "Castleton China, Inc." began manufacturing china in 1939. The company produced fine china until about 1970.
