This is a 1950 magazine advertisement for the Viking Glass Company, New Martinsville, West Virginia. A clear glass Swan bowl and matching candle holders. Ad is black & white and measures 9 3/4" by 12 3/4".
The Viking Glass Company was established in 1944 when Viking purchased the Old New Martinsville Plant. Viking continued to use many of the New Martinsville molds to produce glassware. This company made many of New Martinsville's older etched patterns such as "Prelude". Some of their most popular sellers were the glass animals that they produced from the New Martinsville molds. The Viking Glass Company and their subsidiary Rainbow Glass specialized in handmade glass gift items. In the late 1980s they were bought out by Kenneth Dalzell who was then the president of the Fostoria Glass Company. Dazell Viking continued to make handmade items including glass animals into the late 90s when they ceased production.
