Throughout the world on 10 November, U.S. Marines celebrate the birth of their Corps . I put Gumby to work to show him off and also to say to all Marines including my Husband who considers this Birthday more important than his real birthdate :-) . Happy Birthday Nov 1oth .
Semper Fi
I am early but Gumpy was crawling on the truck and went to stand by the Marine Logo's he wanted to enlist I guess so I chased him off the car and he went over fence and into to tree to hide :-)
Gumby is a green clay humanoid character created and modeled by Art Clokey in 1950's, who also created Davey and Goliath. Gumby has been the subject of a 233-episode series of American television as well as a feature-length film and other media. Since the original series' run, he has become well known as an example of stop motion clay animation and an influential cultural icon, spawning many tributes and parodies, including a video game and toys.
Gumby's principal sidekick is Pokey, a talking orange pony. His nemeses are the Blockheads, a pair of humanoid, red-colored figures with block-shaped heads, who wreak mischief and havoc at all times. The Blockheads were inspired by the Katzenjammer Kids, who were always getting into scrapes and causing discomfort to others. Other characters are Gumby's dog Nopey whose entire vocabulary is the word "nope", and Prickle, a yellow dinosaur who sometimes styles himself as a detective with pipe and deerstalker hat like Sherlock Holmes.[7] Also featured are Goo, a flying blue mermaid who spits blue goo balls and can change shape at will; Gumby's mother Gumba and father Gumbo. The later syndicated series in 1988 added Gumby's sister Minga and mastodon friend Denali.

Loved the Gumby doll, your whimsical narrative, and the wonderfully detailed description! I don't know if I've ever seen some of those characters - mermaid? Love POKEY boy. Used to watch this as a child. Love this entry!
Thank you MiKKo :-) Glad you enjoyed my little Gumpy narrative of his adventures and the message to Marines :-) We are a full service family from Navy, Army,Marine's but it is the Marine's Birthday coming up :-) Who know's Gumpy may try to enlist in another branch of service yet :-)
'Morning, Manikin! Wow, your family is well-represented in the chivalry department! Glad that you successfully deterred Gumby from enlisting with the Marines - the flattop would have been painful. I've alerted the Army to be on guard against any 6 inch candidates. I am fairly confident that he won't try the Navy, since he never goes anywhere without Pokey boy, and Pokey can't swim. However, since the only terrain suitable for their almost-neon coloring is either a tropical Aquarium or the depths of the Caribbean - I'd alert the Coast Guard and Sea World, too. Who knows - the thrill of a Caribbean vacation might make Pokey overconfident! Fortunately they're waterproof. No, we can't have Gumby in the armed forces - he'd be loaning his uniform out to everyone - including the enemy, and things would get so confused that no would know who's boss, or for that matter who's the enemy. He'd make a real mess out a war. I think that a long serious chat with Pokey is your best bet. Mankin, on this mission, you'd better be SEMPER FI!...Happy Birthday to the proud U.S. Marines!
Hi Mani !! Great Post !! Early Happy Birthday to Our Brave Marines. By the Way, I think that Goo chick sit behind me in the sixth grade. (:-D)
Hiya musik ! Thank you so much . I did not forget your record I am waiting to get some more up stairs for me to look at then I will send the Big Top or tops I have to you as a gift :-)
Hey I sat in front of blockhead in 5th grade he kept pulling my hair so one day I hauled off and smacked him in mouth and broke his tooth . I think I was grounded till 6th grade but he never messed with me again :-)
Thank you MiKKo !!!!!!!!!!! Always happy to see you :-)
This is a great tribute, which at any time of the year is always welcome, needed , and mostly, deserved ! Gumby is a great mascot, always helpful and loved too !~
Kevin as a Navy brat I say !
Anchors Aweigh, my boys
Anchors Aweigh
Farewell to college joys
We sail at break of day, 'ay 'ay 'ay
Thou our last night ashore
Drink to the foam
Until we meet once more
