I finally got these books yesterday. Someone had sent me Michel Legrand's email address and I asked him for the book. I was very pleased as the first book, "Mascottes Automobiles", is like a show of statues and bronzes of these mascots and the second book is geared more towards fine tuning a collection.
So where I started with 3 books I was lucky enough to secure at a Berlin Auction, my collection has grown extremely impressive, to include these 2 extrememly rare books. The author has signed both new copies of these books. The Fourth book shown is one I don't have - a rare paperback which I probably never will own, it is very rare. Would have loved to get that one also but not meant to be.
Since these are the french books, the show of Art Deco fantasies is prevalent and intoxicating. There are so many beautiful Deco pieces out there that are in no other book on the planet andnever will be. Sometimes you find a rare piece that no one has in their collection or books and that is what the beauty is, there is a lot undiscovered or should I say, "Unrecorded".
The next step for these books is to wrap them in book covers which will protect the books dust jacket and book, from any future damage or handling.
