This is a 1950 magazine advertisement for Peerage hammered brass metalware made in England. The ad was placed by the Skinner Co., New York, NY. - The "Peerage" trademark was granted in 1946 to Pearson Page Jewsbury Co Ltd., Witton, Birmingham, England. Jewsbury was originally founded 1883. The Company took over Pearson Page designs when they were liquidated in 1933. The company mark on the bottom of their wares should be "Peerage" & "England".

Interesting ad on a firm with which I am completely unfamiliar. Noticed the good address - 225 Fifth Avenue, NYC. I'll have to look this firm up and investigate these interesting goods!

Several of theses ads posted showed 225 Fifth Ave. - It was the Grand Madison Hotel, basically called the "Gift Building" because many companies showcasd their silverware, glass, and fine gifts there.

Fascinating, Tony! How did you learn this!

I looked up the address on google maps. The building is now high-end condos. But I remember when I worked in NY City, many of the buildings, including the Empire State Building (I worked right across the street, and went through hundreds of times) , had fine gift shops throughout their lobby floors. Many companies rented PO boxes at the Empire State Building just to have the prestigious address and the 10001 zip code.

You amaze me again, Tony! I shall print this very page off, with your notes on NYC addresses/residents/customs, and park it in my American silver reference work. Bravo.
