These are two 1950 magazine advertisements promoting Vinylite Plastics made by the Bakelite Division of the Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation. - The first ad shows closet accessories made by Protex Products Co., New York, manufactured with Vinylite Plastic. The second ad shows shower curtains made by Kleinert's, New York, also made with Vinylite Plastic. - Union Carbide Corporation was formed in 1898, and the trademark for Vinylite was registered to them in 1929.
Bakelite Corp. merged with Union Carbide in 1939. Union Carbide Corp. became a subsidary of The Dow Chemical Company in 2001.
