Bought this for very little last night at an auction. It is the most lovely blue (is this called blue opaline?) It stands 11" tall x 15" at its widest part. I love the bird and the dragonfly surrounded by the flowers. (enameled) They resemble our snowdrop, but what would such an exotic looking bird be doing between English snowdrops? The small flower is on the other side of this vase, does anyone recognise the flower? Do you think it may have had a lid? There are no friction marks from a lid, but perhaps it lost it long ago. I would appreciate any comments or pointers as to manufacturer, in fact any information at all. Thank you for your interest!

Thank you dasullywon and czechman, I am very happy with your 'Love it'. It is like confirmation from above that I did alright!!
Thank you too mustangtony! Love your dog! I have a very old |(almost 14) German Shepherd who is now very unsteady on the old back legs - we all know whats coming shortly, but try not to think about it!
While she was alive, my mother bought a lot of vases similar too this one. I am less than a novice trying myself to identify my mother's collection, so this is just a guess, but it looks a lot like Bristol. Apparently many of these were used as lamp bases, hence the strange shape at the top. Anyone correct me, please, if I am wrong on this. It is a lovely color!
Many had lids. I suspect with this form that all would have originally had lids but I do think there are people who think differently. people call it bristol but much of this style of glass is from bohemia. It's from the late 1800's. I believe this would have been part of a three piece set for the mantle.
Thank you rockymtnbluebird and Greatsnowyowl, I can a now research it a bit more with the information you have both given. It is just nice to know a little about the glass I have bought. I would not have thought it was from the late 1800's, so I am pleased about that. It has survived very well with just the tinniest flea bit to the rim, hardly noticeable really. Thanks again!
Thank you again inky!
