Being an "old man" myself, I find this a disparaging statement.
Matchbook copyright is 1998, so not a very old matchbook.
A little history about the maker:
D.D. Bean & Sons Co. is the largest manufacturer of paper book matches in North America and has been operating continuously from its facility in Jaffrey, New Hampshire since 1938. We provide the "commodity" book match, which is, essentially, the long run national and generic labels that are both sold and given away at thousands of retail outlets throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Manikin, my daughter is a speech-language pathologist, and during her internship worked at a convalescent hospital. She said she was proposed to several times a day by those old geysers. She shares your analogy of us old geysers.
