These are three 1950 magazine advertisements for Alexander Smith Carpets and Rugs made by the Alexander Smith & Sons Carpet Company, Yonkers, NY. - The first ad is for the broadloom floor-plan rugs, the second ad is for the Caracul trademark broadloom rugs, and the third ad is for the Set-Twist broadloom rugs. - Alexander Smith Carpet Company was founded in 1845 in West Farms, NY but soon moved to its new mill in Yonkers, NY. In 1929, they were the largest carpet manufacturer in the world. They merged the company with Mohawk Carpet in 1956 and the Alexander Smith brand is now owned by Mohawk Carpets. The original Alexander Smith & Sons Carpet Mill in Yonkers was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
