I might have found a little histroy online about that tour that was going on at the time.
1938–39, Don led South Australia to the Sheffield Shield and made a century in six consecutive innings to equal CB Fry's world record. Bradman totalled 21 first-class centuries in 34 innings, from the beginning of the 1938 tour of England (including preliminary games in Australia) until early 1939.

The series of five Test Matches was drawn, meaning that Australia retained the Ashes.

Australians are mad about cricket and the Bradman name is venerated. Bill O'Reilly
aka Tiger was an important name in cricket too. Pity his is missing.

Stan McCabe has this written of him: In the First Test of the 1938 tour of England, McCabe played what was regarded as his greatest innings, scoring 232 in four hours, including his last 72 in 28 minutes. Bradman regarded the innings as the greatest batting he ever saw. However, none of McCabe’s three most famous innings resulted in an Australian victory; he has a reputation of being at his best when Australia was in difficulty.
