I have been searching for one of these for a long time. Several times I came close to obtaining one, only to have it ripped away from me. This one has a nice shape and is in perfect condition. It lacks the verdigris coloring (patina decor) that is found on the tops of some of them, but the enamel decoration around the top is just that same color. The frustrating reason they are hard to find is not so much the rarity, but that it doesn't look like something that would have been made by Loetz. Several times I have seen them listed for auction with a note that they don't know who made it. And just as often someone informs them as to what they have, so the auction gets ended, and may not be relisted.
These are supposed to look like ancient Roman glass, buried for centuries. Mine measures 5 inches high by 5 inches wide, with a small, polished pontil.

Nice find! I love the twisted handles. Congratulations.
Congratulations! Love the Cephalonia!
Thanks very much. This has been on my list for a while and now I can "Czech" that one off.
I have one Cephalonia without patina and an Olympia with it. What is surprising about your piece is the careful disposition of the flakes. If it did not have them, it would indeed by considered an Olympia piece.
I agree Al, and I think that the ones without the patina are actually more rare, although the ones that have it are (in my eyes, anyway) more interesting-looking. I like the small size, so I don't have to find room for it.
Just curious, are you currently bidding on one of these pieces?
Yes, I am, actually :)
Ok, I had a feeling that was you.
I'm sure you will outbid me, so I will not run the price up on you lol.
Good luck, its an amazing steal right now and only a few watchers(probably counting both of us)!! Well worth the wait, LOVE the pinches and iridescence on it. BTW feel free to delete these if you want :)
You are a true gentleman. Thank you. This one ^ doesn't have much of the patinadekor on it, so I wanted to get one that did.
You're welcome.
I'd call it a steal but I think that is an understatement lol, nice way to end the year. Congrats!
Thank you, sir. I owe you one, hope to repay the favor sometime. I just told my wife that...end the year with a nice deal on a piece of glass. I hope to start the new year the same way. I'm working on something special.
And here it is.
