British WW11 Royal Air Force steel helmet, belonged to a member of the ground crew at Royal Air Force Silloth, in Cumberland and Westmorland. Made from lower grade steel as denoted by the three holes in the rim, and issued in a green color, it has been overpainted in the RAF blue paint as used on Air Force vehicles. This helmet from the same airfield as a previously posted Nurses helmet. (Wonder if they ever met?)
