Standard issue British WW11 combat helmet. This helmet came with the owners kit bag, from his family. From the details his family provided, he landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and was wounded on D-Day +1. He survived the war but could never forget his comrades who were killed, and he suffered this for years until finally taking his own life in the 1980's. I do know a bit more about him but out of respect at this time I hesitate to provide any more details to fully identify him. A casualty of war, all be it in later life.
