This is a 1945 newspaper advertisement for Atlantic Ale & Beer (Full of Good Cheer), Charlotte, N. Carolina. --- The Atlantic Company was founded in 1867 in Atlanta, Georgia as the City Brewery. It went through a number of name changes through the decades; Atlantic City Brewery Co. (1876-1892), Atlantic Brewing and Ice Co. (1892-1916), Atlantic Ice and Bottling Co. (1933-1935) * due to prohibition.
In 1935 they were purchased by Atlantic Ice and Coal Co. and from 1937-1955 were named the Atlantic Company. They had breweries in five states; Atlanta (1935-1955), Charlotte (1936-1956), Chattanooga (1933-1941), Norfolk (1936-1949), and Orlando (1937-1954). The company eventually closed in 1956.
