Mystery solved by Manikin
Raggedy Ann Andy Skippy character wrist watch
this is a "oddball" kind of watch from the 70s and there were many such watches produced in those days---clearly the character is either Raggedy Ann or Andy but it's called Skippy, indicating this was probably not an authorized watch.

Very nice PW ! I am wondering why Skippy looks like Raggedy Andy ? I enjoyed your write up and learned a lot . But he sure resembles raggedy Andy in this watch :-) You have beautiful watched always enjoy seeing them :-)
That should be beautiful watches oops . Oh my eyesight is bad today sorry on typo
Thanks Manikin for the comments and appreciation. You are correct about him looking like Raggedy Andy.
Dave
Dave I have had Skippy Dolls the character but he looks different , he has a more square face and doesn't look like Raggedy Andy at all . Skippy dolls are collectible because of the character and his unique look .
I think your watch has Raggedy Andy and Skipper refers to the yacht . A ship skipper is that possible .

Manikin,
I'm sure Kerry will chime in at some time and let us know exactly what it is.
I'm not familiar with the skippy character and was just going by what it said on the watch. It definitely could be "skippy" for skipper.

Kerry callin Kerry :-) He is at work today but hopefully he will see it Dave . Skippy was also a registered trademark for E. Gluck Trading Co ? But I am sure it is Raggedy Andy but can't explain why and how it is marked . PS He is also very collectible watch . It is a neat piece .
I found your watch . It says it is clearly Raggedy Andy but most apt to be unauthorized as they use name Skippy for him . Interesting if you read down the link

Very interesting watch PW !!!!!!!! was hard to find :-)
Kerry is a walking encyclopedia on watches he knows them well . He would have found this if he wasn't off working today :-)
Manikin,
I was just ribbing him (Kerry) a little bit. But you did a fantastic job searching this.
The only skippy I was aware of, is peanut butter.

Hello Dave, just made it home. Good job Mani, but here's the low down. This is a "jump Hour " watch for starters, It and the Raggedy Ann watch were a set of companion pieces. They were sold under several Company Logo's (like the political watches of the 1970"s) The Prescision Watch company sold tons of them, The Raggedy Ann model was labeled as "Patsy" and the Andy was marked "Skippy", for what reason, A massive copy right war between Gruelle and Molly-'Es Doll Outfitters, Inc.. They were a UnAuthorized pieces as such, but were registerd trade markes as "Patsy" and "Skippy and the was another "Skippy" Raggedy Andy watch that has "Animated" Eyes and label as "Skippy" and they were mfg 1980
Thanks Kerry for all that great information and for the appreciation.
There was not doubt that you would have good information to add to what Manikin had already given me. Thanks again.
Dave
Kerry I knew you would know the whole story . I was certain it was Raggedy Andy not "Skippy' I also wondered how they did it as Gruelle and other authorized makers of Raggedy Ann and Andy would have not allowed them to use their character with a different name . It all adds up ! Thanks Kerry . You need to quit your day job lol when we call your name on CW your supposed to answer the phone :-) Thanks for further explaining the watch . I know dolls and he is a doll but you would know why he was on a watch with a new name . ! Great to know . Patsy and Skipper dolls made by same company Effanbee. I wonder why they did not protest using their dolls names ?
That's a good question, Maybe with the names and characters switched, it might be considered "pubic domain"and not a infringement.
Thanks mustangtony & geo26e for the appreciation.
