I recently found these chairs close to home. There is a story that goes with them, but I cannot completely confirm it. They are metal with what appears to be original paint...It is quite thick and could be powder coating. The backs are attached in such a way that they slightly adjust to your back when you sit down. They have a slight bounce to them, and are very comfortable. The screws that hold those three connectors are regular, they are not phillips...they also appear to be original. They measure 28.5 in high...29 in wide...the seat is 20 in deep and 14 in high....They have a little weight to them.....I hope someone can date them for me. I cannot decide if I should sand blast and powder coat them or leave them in this original condition...Thanks

Don't touch them I think they are something cool. Let me do some checking. Arggghhh, can't remember. Let me look.
Try this info as a start.

Hmmmm...maybe. Good place to start though. Interesting eye4
Thank you Amber...you are right I think I will leave them as is....I do believe they are at least from the 60's....possibly even the 50's just by the construction...I havn't been able to find this exact design anywhere...The slight movement of the back for comfort is different...I love old metal and iron, these were a fun find
Thanks for that info eye4...I was unaware of the hand bending....I will check them out tomorrow to see if there is any differences in the two....Do you know any other designers from that period? Some things..form etc are cool no matter who made it...But it would be alot more exciting to find their origin...I live in Bethel N.Y. These chairs have been outside a local bar for years...Story is they were amongst the many things left behind after the Woodstock Concert which took place around the corner....I traded an old refrigerator for them.
I agree...I would call them outdoor chairs...They are much more comfortable than the look
Would you refinish them also? I have a guy that does powder coating....I will research the upholstery on the Diamond chairs....Thanks so much for helping me out
Now that's an idea!!!
I did re-measure and there are slight differences in the measurements of the two chairs...not huge but differences none the less....I really appreciate all the feedback...eye4beauty and AmberRose
I don't they are Salterini..The wire is pretty heavy gage, not like the iron mesh. They seem like good quality...Maybe they are just from a department store in the 50's or 60's...even the inexpensive stuff back then was quality made....I have been following your and AmberRose's leads. I havn't found anything with that "hinged" back....and if you notice the wires on the back middle are spaced closer than the others, I have'nt seen that on the other designs either...I enjoy your help.....Whenever you think you have a rare or one of a kind item....You usually trip over another. I will put off restoring them for awhile just in case.
I looked....Nothing quite the same....But they seem to be closer in design than the Salterini
