This was my great-grandmothers Bible before she was married.
The 4th frame above has her signature, Anna A. Stewart, on the blank page facing the front cover,
The cover spine reads:
HOLY BIBLE
----------------
REVISED PSALMS
OXFORD (at bottom)
Title page states:
APPOINTED TO BE READ IN CHURCHES.
OXFORD
PRINTED AT THE UNIVERSITY PRESS
LONDON: HENRY FROWDE,
OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS WAREHOUSE, 7, PATERNOSTER ROW.
NEW YORK: 42, BLEECKER STREET.
Pearl 24's ----- Cum Privilegio
In addition to the book of Psalms between Job and Proverbs, and after the end of the book of Revelations is:
THE BOOK
OF
PSALMS.
THE SCOTTISH VERSION REVISED,
AND THE
NEW VERSIONS ADOPTED
BY
THE UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
OF NORTH AMERICA
---------------------------
PITTSBURGH,
UNITED PRESBYTERIAN BOARD OF PUBLICATION.
The reverse side of this page is:
Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1872, by
THE UNITED PRESBYTERIAN BOARD OF PUBLICATION,
In the Office of the Librarian of Congress, at Washington, D.C.
(this is the only place I can find a publication date)
The 3rd frame above shows the book marker (appears to be hand sown, the back side has a single red thread line in the center. The loops on the front can be lifted up from the beige backing).
I'm not sure of the printing of this Bible, but had to be after the 1872 date found. My great-gradndmother was born Aug. 30, 1853, married on Feb. 9, 1886 to Albert Lincoln, and died on Dec. 27, 1937. Since she put he maiden name in the front of the Bible, I would assume she had it before 1886.
The Bible measures 3-1/2 inches wide, 5-3/8 inches wide & 1-1/2 inches thick, held closed with a brass clasp.
