I don't know much about this oil painting. It was in my parent's basement. It had to be there at least 40 years. It was old when my dad bought it. I can't find a signature. I am showing the back. It's the orginal frame. Any guesses? vscience@yahoo.com

Much older than 40 yrs. This devoe board goes back to Late Victorian. Any Signature?
I looked at it closely but didn't see a signature. On the black backside of the painting there is some writing but I can't discern it. I don't think its a signature tho. We lived in the Chicago area so that might be a clue. I remember my Dad telling me that it was an antique 40 years ago. From that point on, it was left in the basement which was not a pleasant place. It's a mystery.
During the Victorian Period, lots of Women would do art work. I would say around 1920 with the Devoe and Reynolds label on back. Location, hard to tell? Looks nice, you should hang it up!
