Fought tooth and nail for these midcentury modern chairs this weekend. I won the prize and here they are!!
I am still attempting to located the designer. They are USA made and probably in the 1950's they very closely mimic recliners from the designer Milo Baughman, they even share the same mechanism for reclining as his chairs do. The mechs are labeled General Steel High Point NC. I contacted Thayer, which Milo worked for since the late 50's. They could not confirm they were by him and that they are probably copies.
I am debating on recovering them, as the suspension needs work. I may be able to save the original covers. For now they reside in my living room.
If anyone can help pinpoint a designer, please chime in!!
