Hi Songwriter, simple clean lines in the form of the vase and the understated decoration make for an elegant piece. I would guess Japanese, and your other vase as well. I downloaded the mark on this one to a photo editor, but could not sharpen it enough to distinguish fine detail. Even so, I looked for a similar mark but did not find one. If you can provide a sharper image of the mark, I will try again. Best wishes, Jim
Thank you Jim so much I will :)
Jim
Have u seen the other vase i added it is the red one with metal round rings would u know if this is an Asian vase?
Jim I added a new photo of the marking let me know if it works
Hi, much better pic, went through Gotheborg again and a couple hundred marks that I have with no luck. It may be an artist's signature rather than a kiln. Sorry I couldn't help, I really like the piece. Regards, Jim
Thanks for trying..... so an artist signature a bad thing?
No, not at all, but a kiln would be easier to identify.
I guess being a translucent piece helps
I really do love it it is so white !! , never seen a vase that white before
Hi, I bought a blue and white vase a while ago which has exactly the same signature. The shape of the vase and the drawing is rather different from yours, though some of the elements are the same. Unfortunately, I was also not successful in finding out more about it so I'm of course excited to discover the same signature here. If you are interested I can send you a picture when I get back home from holidays.
You can send me a picture if you want juliebumgarner@comcast.net
