GALBIATI - MILANO MADE IN ITALY
found this today at goodwill and i was really shocked when i found this in excellent condition. now i have done some reading and im trying to understand , if in fact if Piero fornasetti had done some work for Galbiati . i really love this tabacco jar. very very cool :)

Not sure. I've had a look around the Italian sites and there is no mention of them earlier than contemporary. There is a Galbiati Milano that seems to be a distribution company. In Australia we call these outlets "Bomboniere" shops for an Italian migrant clientele buying wedding presents acceptable to the "Italian" market. "Bella figura" demands that you buy something Italian.

I'm a bit dubious about one of the opera plates on worthpoint.

i did look on some auction website and they say that fornasetti did some things for Galbiati milano in the past. what tells me that piero did this for Gilbiati is the symbol of the sun on the bottom of this item.

The galbiati name was part of an area of his production of furniture items. He used Ginoru mainly for ceramics as we heard on that other post. The answer to the question about why is greed I suppose. Caveat emptor.
