As usual, there is a story. I love this vase but the dealer, who had sold me a defective piece, blocked me from his auctions after I gave him a negative (by the way, you give them, E-Bay erases them, no matter their warning that they cannot be removed).
But he lives in the same town as a close friend, so I asked my friend to get it for me. He ended up giving it to me as a present!
And now, why is it so unusual?
1. The size; 16" tall, in perfect condition.
2. The complexity: clear glass cased in white with yellow, blue and red spatter (the Bolivarian flag), a thick cobalt snake and applied foot.
3. And the foot has a polished pontil!
4. A family photo: 12', 16" and 10"
This line is documented in the Butler Brothers 1919, 1930, 1932 catalogs.
