I've been researching a few items for a local shop owner and she passed along this guy. I've discovered that this is a Santos hand carved piece. It stands 14" tall. The base is a hexagon about 4 1/2" across the bottom. He is missing both of his hands and it looks like whatever he was holding may have been secured with dowels. There are two metal nails (?) on the back which where probably where he had wings attached.
The paint is polychrome and, for it's age, I'm not sure how the condition should be described. Any ideas about who he is, how old he may be or his origination??
