This is a Bakelite set buggy and basket with a Stork carrying the celluliod baby . The ribbon on bottom is all silk . It stand about 17" tall . As fragile as it is it survived well . This was most apt to appear on a table at a baby shower . I think it is fun and lovely . After all we know the stork is getting pretty tired from toting all those babies all over the world , so he deserves some appreciation . Circa 1940's to 50's
Bakelite is a very early plastic and in itself is collectible .
I have no idea where to place this in categories ?

Thank you mustang :-)
Love it! I am finding myself looking at old decorations...spun heads, shiny brights etc. Trying not too, but willpower is fading.
Thank you Amber :-)I love old decorations too . You always have such good luck finding things and how fun collecting is and the hunt is fun too .
This is delightful, Manikin! Poignant reminder of another time. Not so long ago, but it seems to be that the arrival of a baby back then was something that everyone took time and care to acknowledge. It is also a lovely centerpiece. Beautiful stork, and a silk ribbon? It makes me smile a happy smile. Thank you.
Every year it seems lately I learn more about the stork and his flight into every collectible field including mascots, this is one of the nicest representations that I have ever seen, beautiful !~
Thank you Phil and MiKKo :-)

You're Welcome Mani, did you get a chance to check out the doll I link to you earlier this morning
This is beautiful!!!,Manikin I love every detail. It reminds me of old greetings cards I have from the 30's and 40's I have.
Thank you Bellin and bratjdd :-) It does look like a old baby shower card to me also . Someone added a newer piece if lace at top but it is a fairly large center piece for a table . And I like the story of the stork it has become a lost one :-) Kids now know where babies come from by 4 to 5 years old unlike my generation we believed the story till we were nearly teens :-)
This so charming, I love it!...:-)
Thank you inky :-) Hope all is good by you ,glad you stopped
i find myself loving these types of items also as do your other followers -- must be the grandmother gene kicking in --particularly search out the dollies and handiwork in the antique shops and yard sales -- just can not believe how little regard the families must have for the love one past -- found a pretty little popcorn dollies so very nicely done yesterday at an estate sale for a mere 50 cents -- the hours of work and every little stitch so perfectly done -- washed up beautifully and currently drying on the sweater rack
i totally treasure all my grandmothers tatted items she left to me
