Here is the fourth part of the "Restoration Series" on this, our 1959 British Daimler Ferret Scout Car. The military vehicles are the "centre" of our family Military Collection. This is the Mk2/3 variant.
Photo .1: Is a picture just to "look good" on the "Show & Tell" page; it is actually when the Ferret was nearly completed, but there is a long, dirty and rocky road to travel before we reach this "nearly finished" state. You will note the celebratory bottle of beer!
Photo .2: Is Keith looking down into the cockpit and surveying the absolute "hell" and wreckage that needs putting right. It will have a full "strip back to bare metal" restoration and all mechanicals will get refurbished, restored, rebuilt or "re" something'ed before the end! (The floor internal armour plate has been removed to reveal what is underneath....which is what you can see here!)
Photo .3: The Ferret has to be moved to our facility which is equipped to deal with any needful task (thanks Rob!). It is stripped of remaining equipment, main armament, side "escape" armour doors and soon after this photo was taken, the turret too!
Photo .4: Is looking in at the "port side" hatch; at the transmission which Keith is looking down on in Photo .2. The Ferret, as I said will be stripped right down to it's veriest bare bones before the re-manufacture and restoration process gets under full steam!
I will continue posting the elements of this "series" until the restoration's end, and perhaps beyond as we continue to own and run it.
