I'm sorry I can't tell you were they are from, I am sure someone on here will be able to but! I can tell you that they are lovely, amazing carving and if I am right and if that is cross banding on the shoulder I can see, they are made from ivory..a lovely pair!...:-)
You know they're ivory right? Either Japanese or Chinese
Hi, these are Chinese and ivory. You should be able to see the Schreger lines (the cross hatch pattern indicative of ivory) clearly on the bottom of the vase. I have one of these, probably identical in size to yours. Mine is exactly 5" tall x 1.43" diameter at the widest point. Where you have a floral pattern with people and pagoda shapes, I have intertwined dragons. I have had mine since 1970 and have never encountered another in shows, auctions or reference books until now, so I would say they quite uncommon if not rare. Best wishes, Jim
