This is a very worn book of Poetical Works by John Milton, printed by, Phillips, Sampson, And Company, Boston, 1857.
John Milton, born Dec. 9, 1608, was an English poet, polemicist, a scholarly man of letters, and a civil servant for the Commonwealth of England under Oliver Cromwell. He wrote at a time of religious flux and political upheaval, and is best known for his epic poem, Paradise Lost. As a blind poet, Milton dictated his verse to a series of aides in his employ.
John Milton died Nov. 8, 1674.
This book contains the works:
Paradise Lost
Paradise Regained
A Mask
Sampson Agonistes
Poems On Several Occasions (18)
Sonnets (18)
Psalms (done into verse, 1653)
Thanks for looking,
Dave
