My dad served in the army as a medic in WWII in Germany circa 1940 something fighting Hitler (and was awarded the purple heart among other medals). He brought back this Swastika which his mother protected in plastic all these years. I don’t know any other details about its history since he and his mom are passed. Looks like it is made of cotton (or linen?). The swastika is black and measures apx. 6 ¾” x 6 ¾”, the white fabric background is apx 12 “ in diameter. The swastika looks to be "perfect". The white background has stains. This is the real deal, very rare. Is there any way to find out what it is worth? Thanks!

These were the center piece of red silk flags. Most of the flags with this size swastika were 8' x 5'. Not rare. Plus without the flag, not worth much, But we don't talk price on CW. The Nazis made MILLIONS of these. Almost every soldier that wanted one could get one.

Even though they are common in the collector market, it is still a nice piece, with a great story attached to your dad, and I thank him for his service. Keep this with his belongings, and tell his story to your family, let it be passed down so no one forgets what he did for our freedom!

      Thanks!

I agree tlmbaran. I was reading on some military items my daughter posted where someone commented they had a friend whose kids and husband weren't interested at all in her military service. So she just gives her stuff away. These things that were brought home were brought for a reason.. one that meant something to the men who brought them that we may never actually know. I hate to see these things tossed aside. So, CastleInHawaii that is where the true value lies. They can never be replaced. Thanks for sharing yours. :-)
