This is an interesting very old gravity feed torch lamp I recently found in all original working condition. Steel tank is not rusted thru and the flow cock and needle valve are clean and turn smoothly. I think it is all here but am not sure. Would like to know if anything is missing and what year these were sold by H.S.B. & Company of Chicago Ill. It probably is shown in some of their old hardware supply catalogs.
A little information I’ve discovered on this type of lamp.
Apparently this particular lamp was actually made by Linderman & Hoverson of Milwaukee Wis. who called them the "Anchor Torch". There is an Anchor symbol embossed on the primary gas valve. Other names for this type are Pan Torch ,Showman’s Lamp, Vapor Lamp. Naphtha Lamp. Started being produced around the 1860 and Sold by Sears and others into the 1920s. Came in both Gasoline and Kerosene versions.
