She has a hole in back which I would assume was for a key to wind her ? What is she made of ? It looks a bit like hard rubber is it ? She is a Novelty doll and date her 40's to 50s also .
Yes that hole puzzled me as well. She is made out of soft rubber. Maybe she used to produced some squeeky sound when squeezed.

Ok she is rubber so the hole at one time had a small metal cap and a little hole in that it was a squeeze toy :-)
then the mystery is solved!:)
