Family history says:This Coin was removed from circulation as a BAD coin and stamped as such, for future distruction at the Mint. It instead was kept by the Clerk who wanted to start his own collection. Then passed down thru the family.
There is an obvious spot on the cheek of the Liberty head where the coin was not fully struck? The scratches next to it were made by the clerk trying to see if it was counterfit. With the notable damage, is this coin worth anything?
