i have literally hundreds of old boxes - toolboxes, fruit crates, interesting lunchboxes, metal boxes, wood boxes, painted boxes, etc... i also collect interesting footstools - two of them in this pic too. what is the very large handled box called and what were they used for? i have a couple of them; this is by far the largest.

I don't know which box you are asking about, but I hope you will answer a question and help me...I have an exact match to the box that is second from top in the middle stack of your photo. What was that box used for I am curious?
Thanks Jason
hello jcoachk. that box is an old, homemade toolbox. it still has a very nice insert.
i was referring to the large box in the right-hand corner. it's more like a carrier w/ the large handle.
Oh okay...have never seen one with such a large handle...almost looks like handle is just for aesthetics and not meant to be functional. I see a primitive style magazine holder, or maybe some type of artificial plant holder. Anyhow, I am going to try and post a pic tonight with a large group of mine so check tomorrow or late tonight and let me know what ya think.
thanks jcoachk. i'll check to see if you've posted yet. the handle has had plenty of use, so i think it was utilitarian. the box is larger than it looks like. it would hold a thousand magazines! do you know what they are called?
