Seeing there have been a few paperweights on CW, I thought I would throw one in! I know absolutely nothing about paperweights, but this one caught my eye, so I bought it! It has two birds facing one another over an open flower, to one side of the flower are two frogs (or fish) - I think frogs! Around the sphere are controlled bubbles approx one inch apart. Would love to know a little more about it! If you can help, then please do!!

I've amassed a small paperweight collection over the years. Most of it is 70's studio glass, a little Italian glass and even some chinese glass (LOL) So I don't know a ton about paperweights. I have learned one of the ways you can tell a quality weight is from the way the base is finished. What does the bottom of this look like? is the base polished? I'd probably have gotten more into paperweights if I weren't constantly in fear of the cats getting brained with one. (they like to push things off desks and shelves if they're smaller.. I can envision my maine coon pushing one off a desk and onto a passing cat below.. So all of my paperweights are on floor level.

Thanks for the help GSO, it has a flat polished bottom and weighs just over 2 lb!
And now to get to the cats, the maine coons are just beautiful, how many have you got? I have seven (just moggies) as I help a small rescue group and end up taming ferals that just will not accept anybody else! Good job we have plenty of outbuildings and a bit of free roaming for them. Very difficult to display glass!

I have four. we didn't plan on having so many but our maine coon was young and our other cat is 16 so we decided to get a kitten a few years back to grow up with her so she wouldn't be in so much culture shock when our older cat passed the rainbow bridge. (it was a fight to get the third cat for me) but then a couple months ago when we were going to the petfood store for some emergency rations (we ran out of wet food and we usually order online) we noticed a cat in back of hte petfood store so I went to investigate whilst my hubby bought supplies. I had him get me a can of food extra to put down for the kitteh. he ate it very fast purring all the while then hopped into our laps. it was clear he had a little den in the shrubbery and there was no water in sight. he was skin and bones.. it was clear we couldn't leave him there.. so now we have a fourth. LOL. I couldn't believe no one noticed this little guy in back of the store. he's a siamese blend or purebred (apple head) just gorgeous. our other cats are forest cats. There are language barriers it's funny. Our cats have the nosebump of understanding. but he has the forehead bump of understanding. It's created some confusion but they're beginning to understand each other. the nosebump of understanding seems to have won for the most part.
