The oldest of my dumpster diving newspaper finds, dated 1869. Appears to be a German language paper from Charleston, S.C.

Looks like you hit the dumpster at just the right time! Maybe you'll be able to find someone that can help you figure out what it says? *G*

Got a kraut girl friend who can translate it but have to use a stick to prod her when she's asleep or lose fingers! I'll ask when she wakes naturally.

I may have a German speaker in mind, myself! I'll have to show it to her next time I see her!

      Cool!!
My husband is German, but the scan is not that clear ....he could do it if you want him to, but I think 1 page should be separated into 2-3 sections to make it a little bigger

Wow! I'm anxious to see what it says. I'd love to know what it says. :-)

Senchi, I'll have to do an actual scan of the first page for you so your husband can give it a glance. He might enjoy brushing up up on his German, if he doesn't have the opportunity to read it much! May take a day or two to get to it, but I'll add the photo!
