This piece, while gorgeous, makes me wistful. When growing up, I looked up to my older brother, Guy, and loved the aromatic scents which emanated from his pipes, like Balck & Gold, Flying Dutchman, and others. So, I asked him to show me how to smoke a pipe, so I could enjoy those aromas anytime I wanted (also, because I thought he looked pretty cool puffing away, lost in thought...). It wasn't until many years had passed (sadly, along with my brother), that I found the phrase "thinking men smokes pipes" and it made me reminisce. I had some nice meerschaums, too, and now wish I had saved them.

My parents had one of these ashtrays and I have long regretted letting it go when we closed their house. I didn't see the point of keeping ashtrays, since we don't smoke and don't want to encourage anyone else. But oh how I love the color and lines of this one!!
