This was a gift to the bridesmaids from my Grandmother in 1930. She didn't keep one and many years later her cousin Dora? gave her this sweet porcelain bird w/ring. I always remember seeing it inside a dorky 1970's plastic Xmas ornament made from a pill-bottle w/some glitter on top....boy I hope my nieces are nicer when they see my craft projects.....but then it became mine! Surprised me that my mother and 3 sisters never heard the story. I love old stuff so I was always asking. ASK your gramma questions! She would love to share her wedding memory.

Thank you - it is pretty sweet. I'd like to read about your Grandmother memories too.
your very welcome valentino , and yes its very very pretty :) ill have to dig one photo up somewhere :)
What a lovely and heartwarming piece. I agree about asking gramma's questions. So many of our little treasures become even more treasured when we find out the story behind them. I'm in my mid 50s and I've always been interested in the story that goes with keepsakes and collections of all kinds. It's sad to think how easy it is to lose that connection.
Thank you for your nice comment. You reminded me to document my favorite old pieces so that the next relative will understand why they're special. Over the years I've passed on some of my grandmother's goodies to my sisters w/ history she told me. Recently at a family reunion they complained that I had all the best old stuff - and I'm sure it was because I loved those little things and asked about them - many years ago (mostly as a kid in 1970s). But, I am a fair sister and enjoy passing these treasures on w/the "rest of the story" to the right person.
I love the history behind old 'stuff' what ever it may be makes everything to me especial, and to have history and a warm hearting story behind it like yours makes it very special, I have nothing from my family..I envy you!... in a nice way!...:-)
I'm sorry you don't have special things from your family. You have so many beautiful items - and your profile picture is gorgeous.
Thank you valentino97!...:-)
