Wow each floppy disk will hold a huge 1.44 mg and we thought that was a lot back in the day . Now it it nothing about 5 photo's . I thought I would bring up the past while I was clearing off my desk. I keep them handy ......why I have no clue they make for pretty colors if nothing else . Just a off the wall post but try and buy a box of these now at the store and clerk may say what is a floppy disk :-)

Mani, I've got an old 3.5 drive if you deciede you need it . don't think the newer OS will support one, but we can hook it up so you can use it, kinda like the 8 tracks, lol.

Floppy... an ancient term, used in the last century, first recorded use 1970, not sure of it's meaning as description on stone tablet has eroded over time.......
I still have dozens of them in my office, not sure why I have them. If nothing else they will be a interesting artifact for a future generation to contemplate when they stumble upon them.

Hey Kerry I have 3 8 track players I could use your old drive . My First PC had a total of 250mg !!!!!!!!!!! and windows 95 used most of that up . Funny how far we have come and we still want more space so we hook up external hard drives also now . I think they maybe good for a wall art decoration :-)
I keep two computers set up with 3.5 floppy drives. The reason being I have several hundred floppies with data on them. Although I have started dumping the data to external hard drives. Modern operating systems certainly recognize the drives. The issue is does your motherboard have the IDE controller port to support it. Newer 3.5 floppy drives are external and have a USB plug. When I first started with computers there were no drives at all. You used a cassette recorder with a special data tape and programed all of your own software using basic programming language. The reason for the data tape was because when you shut the computer down everything you had input was lost forever. It was a frustrating time. At this point in life I am down to seven desk tops and three laptops and have let my certifications expire. To old to keep up anymore but still enjoy it.
Nice, somewhere I still have my Commodore Vic 20, tape recorder from youth when I was interested in writing basic, but I got busy with life and never touched another computer until I got laid off 3.95 years ago, and had to have someone show me how to turn it on, and been gathering coin and spewing my bs ever since, lol, I missed the floppy era completely, I was a kegger.
