Pic. 1. Let's start with 4 Krasno shades in different colors and shapes. I had a problem. When upright, the rose shaped shades left too much of the bulb exposed. I needed a taller shade.
Pic. 2: So I tried combining them with other Krasno shades and, to my amazement, they stacked up as if they belonged together, covering the exposed bulb.
Pic. 3: where I had 2" tall shades, now I have bicolor 4.5" tall shades. By the way, Krasno and Kralik shades do not fit each other!

I believe that the 2 Shades can not be combined together. and there is the possibility of combining with two bulbs bifferent.

Al, try using those small round night light bulbs. They have a full-size base on them, but are low wattage (7.5 Watts, I think) so they won't produce much heat. Also, look at the LED bulbs, which tend to be smaller. If you can find one that is small enough to hide within the shade, it will produce little if any heat, will last for years, and will use only pennies in electricity per year.
I use 25 watt frosted "flame" bulbs with all my shades. Any lower, and they do not sparkle. Any higher, horrid. I really do not worry about saving electricity. The shades are off most of the time. I LOATHE the pig-tailed new "efficient" bulbs. And I like how my shades looked together. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
AND Glass can be drilled, repaired, reconstructed, covered with ugly metal, set in cheap frames and sport fake signatures. But, apparently, it cannot be used creatively. And God forbid one puts flowers in an expensive vase! The water might stain it an spoil the . . . market value.

I think he is still without electricity, he lives in the lower 1/3 of Manhattan, the area that lost it when the substation exploded.
Alfredo just called me. He is doing OK, though he is stuck in his apartment as the elevators are out and he is unable to walk down 5 flights of stairs. There is no heat or hot water, but he has a gas cook stove, so he can boil water and heat food. They have run out of wine as well, and all the stores are closed. That seems to be the main concern at the moment. He asked if I would let everyone know about his situation. He fears that it could take more than a week to get his power back.

Al just called to say his power is back on. He couldn't talk very long because the batteries for his cordless phones are low from not being charged. I told him I would let people know. He may not be back online for a while. His internet (Time-Warner) is still down, but I can tell his spirits are up. And he should have working heat tonight (the temperature inside his apartment is 59 degrees)
OK guys, thanks for thinking of Aber and me. We survived thanks to a brand new fridge that kept foods cold and/or frozen for a whole 5 days.
By the way, I added a third layer to my stacked lamp shades!
As a kid, I used to love three scoop ice-cream cones: pistachio (green), tutti-frutti (pink) and rum raisin (amber). And THAT is exactly the effect of my stacked shades!
