For Hem/Steve. This is a book that was orig. printed in 1947 & this is the 1957 ed.. It is loaded with detailed info from antique to this time. Goes by counties & what the had in their military. Great source that I still love to look thru with memories of a lot of the items I have had in my history.
Come get it Steve.

Thanks Lucas! This is great..I have a few reference books myself but love the clear photo's in this one! The Bren section is something I haven't ever seen even though I own one! Love the "tri-pod"! MANY thanks for posting this. I think (if OK with you)...I'll put a link on my Bren & Sten Posts.. redirecting to this post of yours!

We all really hope Hurricane Sandy has left you and yours all unmolested on StMartins!!!

    Regards, Steve

Fine Steve. You must have been gone again. If you like, I can post all the pages on the Bren, Browning .30 & Sten to you direct for reference. There are diagrams of how they work and everything from the orig. manuals.
Trying to get things moving on the cannons in the bay.

Yeah...I keep having to do a "flit" to earn a crust..normally away for a week or so at a time...this time; two days away, one back another four away again...ho hum (back next week)
Serious best of luck on the cannon recovery expedition ...keep pushing ;)

We had a hurricane!!? I've got to cut-back on these Coronas! Funny, I haven't seen any damage.
Actually, it was un-named coming thru here but we knew it was going to get worse as it went W. because of the water temps.. Thought it was going to head into C. Amer. but took a sudden jog N.. HAARP with U.S. a/c are spreading chem. trails thru our air-space to influence weather. I've seen 3 "chem-trails" this week. By the way Steve, we are St. Maarten/St. Martin (dutch / french.)

    Duely noted: St. Maarten/St. Martin

Also known as the "Friendly 'F--king" Island". Wish you were here, -- instead of me. Actually, I don't want to trade places for there.
  7. Hems303 Hems303, 4 years ago
It's only known as the Friendly Island because you live know that! I would love to visit, BUT really would NOT trade England for anywhere (other than perhaps NZ) Anyway...gotta go! Back to haunt, next week

NZ. You must really like that cold weather. Long waiting list there I understand.

I'm back home and to CW (long trip away this time)...whats happening? Any news on the recovery of sunken cannon? Hope you and yours are all well (that storm that passed you by, certainly did for the USofA !!!....according to our TV news.)

Regarding climate preference...I'm certainly "temperate" rather than "tropical" by choice!! but a bit of sunshine now and again is nice!
  10. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 4 years ago
That storm was forming when it passed thru here so didn't get much. the local who knows the most about the cannons has been off the rock & supposed to return today so maybe know more in a few days.
Welcome back but CW has been throwing in all this 1&2 yr. old stuff that has already been hashed, rehashed & re-bashed so it takes much longer to weed out those to see whats new & current.
  11. Hems303 Hems303, 4 years ago
Yeah .... but on the positive side..CW is dynamic as well as being a repository of knowledge that can be "rediscovered" by someone new, who often has some more info to add...In a way that's what I like....but you are right; it does make finding the current stuff a bit tricky. Mind you, I've been away a few weeks and stuff I'm now looking at (to catch up on what I've missed) is not current for members who have "been here" all along.......... You only have to "love" something and it's bumped right back to the front! I've also noticed if you are "following" someone, you often end up looking into stuff they are looking up!

Almost all of these things don't have any new posts to renew them. They seem to appear from nowhere. When I ck on something, I 1st look at the date & if it is over 7 mos. old, I move on. 1-2 yr. old posts, most of the people aren't even active. To me, it makes a pleasure a hassle.

    Hey Blunderbuss!!!
    Heads-up...guess what:
Recently obtained a Czechoslovakian Wehrmacht MG42 (I see in your book post above, on the last photo; is the MG tripod...well I couldn't get a genuine WW2 pod, so obtained a current German Army tripod...and guess is IDENTICAL!!!!!! to the WW2 model, apart from the sighting mechanism and the lack of Wehrmacht "skinny chicken" markings) . The 42 snapped right into the pod just like it was coming home! Those naughty Germans don't change a good design when they don't need to, do they!!
I should post some working pictures but then again I better hadn't as they are badass.
I'll email one to you for a laugh. LOL

How about a profile shot as the business end is not what one likes to see, especially if ever been shot at.
