I am not sure what time period or if this is American Indian or ???? and would appreciate help anyone can provide me. It appears to be an old piece. I purchased at an estate sale of an elderly lady. Thanks for any help that can be provided. Not sure if I have selected the right category to place this under?

Some things intrigue me, other things bother me. I really wish we had a general 'artisan' category. I can't put a finger on it. Can you say where (generally) the estate sale was located? Do you remember anything else about the items at the sale (if they seemed to be collections of something or if she appeared to travel - and, if so, where she tended to travel)? Structurally speaking, can you determine what material is beneath the cloth? And what would you guess the blue beads by the "pendant" are made out of (do they have seams from being in a mold)? And, can you tell if the thread (exposed at the top) is cotton? I'm just fishing for clues. I wish I could help based just on the picture.
