Can anyone please ID this flask?
On the bottom, what I can decipher says : shendyhan sterling China. It's worn and very difficult to read, even with a loop.
There is a clear glass insert with sterling silver covering. It has a top with a cork impaled by small metal skewer and filigree finial .
I actually bought 2 of them, which tells me they were mass produced? I really don't know.
Thank you to whoever can solve this mystery!

I love these pinched decanters! May I ask if there are any other markings? If so, the type of marks can hold a clue as to date, manufacturer, etc. which can help, especially if you can't decipher the name on the bottom. I have searched for a similar name without any luck. Also, can you please post how large the flask/decanter is? Thanks for sharing! :-)

    6.25" tall and 4" wide
Like I said above,...it reads: China (shendyhan?) sterling
It's just too worn to figure out of the shendyhan part.
But thank you for letting me know it's a "pinched" decanter,....that helps!

chinablue, you ROCK! Because you told me they were "pinched", I found them and now have a value estimate! Thank you!

*LOL* Well, I'm glad to know "I still got it"! Seriously, I'm glad what little I said helped you find your information. If you ever find out the name on the bottom, I'd love to know what it actually said, just for future reference. I love anything silver.. well, anything silver... or blue... or crystal ...or with roses.. or things in anyway shiny, or old.. I like old things too..and, well, you get the idea. I'm always looking for hard to find information. Thanks for letting us know you found it! :-)

Also, you're too funny! And I have to agree,..I love old stuff too!!!
    Take care!

ok, I marked this as solved,..well sorta, then the site said "err, it's not solved" or something like that. So, err, I guess it's not solved until I can name it?
  7. chinablue chinablue, 7 months ago
I think you can marked it solved at any point no matter the name. Personally, when I have one solved, I usually DO change the name to reflect what I've learned when I mark it as solved, so you could give that a try and then mark it again. If that doesn't work, we'll ask Hunter or another admin to fix it for ya!! :-)

chinablue, I'm not shiny but I'm old & if the offer is right! I did notice the last time I renewed my driver's lic. that they didn't ask if I wanted to be an organ donor. Is that a bad sign or what?
  11. chinablue chinablue, 7 months ago
Now, blunderbuss...being old just doesn't have the same draw without being shiny or blue or having roses too! *LOL* And, yea... I'm thinking it's a bad sign if they don't ask. ;-)

I CAN mark it as solved,...but,..of course, I still haven't figured out what that name in scripted on the bottom says!!
THAT, is the real mystery here, that so far, no one has figured out.
I guess we need someone who speaks Chinese?
    Thanks chinablue!!

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant you were getting some error message that you couldn't change it to solved. :-)
