I recently fount these two jugs / pitchers.
The smaller jug is marked with "Japan".
It's the large jug looks like Foo Manchu or a China man is a mystery. The colors are faded and the only marking that I can read on the bottom looks like "59" or "69" stamped into the base. Any ideas?

    they are character Toby jugs...the small one is in the traditional Toby character of a notorious 18th century Yorkshire drinker, Henry Elwes, who was known as "Toby Fillpot" (or Philpot).
    the other is just like you said...Foo Manchu "toby" jug...
